Drift - David Revelli

David Revelli is the former drummer for Jewel & nouveau-jazz/rock band, The Grassy Knoll. With an incredibly vast knowledge of musical styles, David brings a wide range of influences to his own music.

Drift is a mesmerizing piece with two distinct sections – the early haunting tone sequence followed by a Peter Gabriel-like groove for bass, percussion, violin & guitar.

I received the song as a Pro Tools session and proceeded to clean up the rather hazy recording. While I certainly intended to keep some degree of grittiness, I felt that some polishing was needed to make the melodic violin rise above the heavy bass foundation.

A few embellishments were added, the most obvious is the subtle tambourine that comes in half-way through the song. Overall, I’m quite pleased with the outcome and am really looking forward to working with David in the future.
